Baton Rouge-based LA Athletics, which specializes in cheerleader training and tumbling classes, is adding a third Capital Region location following the purchase today of a roughly 2,500-square-foot building in Port Allen.
Since being founded in 1998 in a 3,000-square-foot building at 11913 Sunbelt Court, just off Industriplex Boulevard, the original location has grown to 10,000 square feet and a second location at 17839 Airline Highway in Prairieville, says Ben Graham of Sperry Van Ness, who brokered the deal for the Port Allen location.
“I’ve worked with these guys since they started, and they have really taken off. They called me a few months ago and said they really needed to get something going across the river, so I began looking and we settled on this location,” Graham says. “They’re hoping to be open for business and begin offering classes in the first week of August.”
The Port Allen location will be at 1944 Westshore Drive. LA Athletics, which is co-owned by Charles Berault and Jimbo Gravois, purchased the building for $250,000 from Westshore Associates, represented by Bill Spatz of Chicago, Graham says.
The building has been vacant for a few years and was last used as a martial arts studio, Graham says, but it will only require some minor renovations and equipment installation before LA Athletics opens.
